GasBuddy is an Innovative Way to Save on Gas

GasBuddy is an Innovative Way to Save on Gas

In the last few years, we have seen gas prices climb on both side of the border.  One of the apps we often use nowadays is the GasBuddy app on my husband’s iPhone.  This free app will help you find the cheap gas prices when you are traveling. From the main screen of the app, you can find the cheapest gas near you by entering the city, state or zip code.  When traveling in Canada, you can do... [Read more]

Tic-Tac-Toe is a great game for kids at camp

Tic-Tac-Toe is a great game for kids at camp

I learned to play Tic-Tac-Toe when I was attending camp as a child. I played numerous times—at school, with friends, while camping with my parents. I always tried to get better at it so I could beat my adversary—usually my own parents. Back in those days, the game was simply played with paper and pencil. And it’s quite easy to learn, since it’s simply a 3×3 grid that you fill with... [Read more]

Carschooling: Over 350 Entertaining Games and Activities to Turn Travel into Learning Time

As a homeschool mom, I believe that my kids can learn at any moment during a day. And fortunately—or unfortunately depending on your point of view—we also emphasize learning when we are traveling. To be honest, I think that our vacations are the best times to learn something outside of our regular environment. When we go to the U.S. or a different city in Canada, we always try to include visits... [Read more]

Think of all the tablets and cellular phones used throughout North America and you’ll know what I’m talking about. However, in this blog post, I will share the advantages of having a laptop as well as a small printer available in the RV when you are on vacation. What?... [Read more]

Keeping Your Sanity with Sticker Books

Keeping Your Sanity with Sticker Books

The drive is long, the kids are getting restless, your level of patience is diminishing by the minute and you wonder how you can entertain the kids until you reach your destination. No problem, because this blog post will provide some interesting books available at Dorling Kindersley. It’s snowing quite a bit here in Eastern Ontario. Doodling while traveling

This blog post is presenting you with a different kind of coloring book for children—the kind that will challenge you and encourage your creativity to bloom as little ones use crayons, colored pencils or markers. Because coloring books are small and portable, they make excellent travel companions for kids seeking an activity while on the road. How Pinterest can transform a dreadful trip with kids into a fun one for everyone.

Traveling with kids.  Some friends of mine dread it and wait until their kids are much older before taking the road for long distance. Others like us don’t hesitate one second to embark in an adventure.   What is the difference between these families?   I think it can be summed up in one word – ORGANIZATION. When you travel with you kids you need to be creative in order to keep them entertained... [Read more]

Planning family travel with Pinterest

The other day, I stumbled on a post about using Pinterest as a tool to plan family travels. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I have started “pinning” things on a board titled Homeschooling on the Road, which contains a ton of fun activities for our kids to enjoy while we travel. Some of you might be wondering what Pinterest is about. Well, it’s essentially a... [Read more]

Encouraging imagination and story making while traveling

Everyone who has kids will quickly discover that when you travel it’s best that you entertain them every once in a while.  If not whining and complaining will invade the vehicle and the level of patience that you had minutes before will quickly disappear.   And if you have multiple children you can be certain that if you are not proactive when it comes to entertaining your kids during long... [Read more]

Looking forward to a year of change

Today is the last day of the year.  By the time you read this more than likely we will already have jumped into the new year of 2014. As I reflect of our year and think of what the future holds, I can’t help to be somewhat emotional as we have made the decision of leaving the campground where we parked our RV for the past 10+ years or so and move on to new adventures. We started out with a tent... [Read more]
