Fleetwood: Making the Discovery

February 1, 2013 by · 5 Comments

Fleetwood continues its commitment to build motorhomes with innovation, quality and value with the introduction of an all-new floor plan for the iconic Discovery model, a Class A diesel motorhome. The Discovery 40E, which was named the 2012 RVIA Best in Show from RV Pro Magazine, is designed for maximum spaciousness and perfectly flows for the greatest comfort and convenience.

As the definition of luxury for the Fleetwood brand, the Discovery provides owners with unmistakable quality and striking features that make the journey as much a thrill as the destination. A redesigned galley is one of the key highlights of the 40E floor plan. The new, spacious galley is set off by polished solid-surface counter tops and a contemporary curved backsplash shelf. A convenient curved spice-rack and large swing-out pantry cabinet offer extra storage space.

Hardwood cabinetry and polished porcelain floors with decorative glass tile inlays add to the beauty of the Discovery 40E model, which features a bath and a half. Enhancing the spaciousness of the motorhome is an 84″ interior ceiling height. Other features of the 40E model include:

  • Power Bridge® chassis featuring a 380HP Cummins® ISC engine
  • Sony® 40″ LCD HDTV (mid-ship)
  • L-shaped transformer sofa
  • Side-swinging luggage doors
  • 22.5″ aluminum wheels
  • MCD® double roller shades

The Discovery 40E offers 197 cubic feet of interior storage space and 208 cubic feet of exterior storage space. Customers can choose from a number of options, including a front overhead 32″ LCD TV, residential refrigerator and three-burner range with oven. An oversized bedroom suite can accommodate an optional king or queen bed with memory foam mattress. For outdoor dining and entertaining, customers can choose the optional pull-out grill and kitchenette.

In addition to the Discovery 40E floor plan, Fleetwood recently introduced three new floor plans for its Class A Diesel models—the Discovery, Expedition and Excursion—and four new floor plans for its Class A Gas models—the Bounder Classic, Bounder and Southwind.

Fleetwood was recently awarded top recognition from MotorHome Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards for North America’s most popular motorhomes, campgrounds, RV products and services. Fleetwood RV earned Bronze awards for favorite motorhome in both the Class A and Class C segments.

The new Discovery 40E and the other newly introduced floor plans are the embodiment of Fleetwood’s quality engineering, functional design and innovation that result in floor plans that customers’ desire, enhancing their motorhome experience mile after mile.
