[1]RVer’s stay at Parkview Riverside RV Park, in Concan Texas, for a variety of different reasons. For example; they may be attending a local festival, tubing the river, golfing or attending a music or athletic event. All good reasons. But some folks stay here just to kick back, relax and take in the local scenery. Parkview is the perfect place to get away from the rat race.
The Texas Hill Country has some of the most spectacular scenic drives in the entire state. You can drive the rural roads or venture out on to the winding passes.
There are at least 2 popular loops near Parkview. The Three Sisters and the Dragon’s Back. Both drives take between 2 to 4 hours to complete. There are pull-offs along the way to rest, take pictures or get food and fuel.
The Three Sisters is one of the Top 5 destination rides for motorcycles in the United States! Why? Because of the hundreds of turns, switchbacks, and ascending and descending hills. Start out in Leakey on Highway 337 and go 21 miles towards Campwood. Turn right at Campwood on Highway 55 and travel about 4 miles to Barksdale. Fork to the right and pick up Highway 335. Highway 335 follows the headwaters of the Nueces River. Go 29 miles until you dead end at Highway 41. Turn right on 41 and go 14 miles to Highway 336. Turn right and travel 27 miles back to Leakey. Highway 336 follows the west prong headwaters of the Frio River.
You can begin the Dragon’s Back in Utopia. From Utopia go 29 miles on highway 470 to Bandera. At Bandera turn left on highway 16 and travel 11 miles to Medina. Turn left on Highway 337 at Medina and go 20 miles to Vanderpool. Turn left on Highway 187 and travel 10.5 miles back to Utopia. You can take a side trip at Vanderpool by going right instead of left. Lost Maples State Natural Area and the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum are both within 7 miles of Vanderpool. Lost Maples is popular for brilliant Fall foliage and wild flowers in the Spring.
Needless to say, you will enjoy the resident wildlife while you are out sightseeing. The Texas Hill Country is home to deer, rabbits, porcupine, raccoons, turkey, fox, bobcat and of course the famous armadillo.
