Ringing In The Heavenly! New Year

[1]With the weather being downright cold outside, I was sitting here listening to Christmas music with a warm fire burning in the fireplace, thinking it is time to start planning an epic New Year’s Destination Vacation!
Our plan this year is to head north for the most ultimate New Year’s celebration in a place we have never been before: Lake Tahoe! While we have been to some great snowboarding places closer to home, such as Big Bear’s Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, and even Mammoth; we have been contemplating checking out Lake Tahoe for the past several years.
Luckily, my cousin has a connection so we have a cabin to stay in for free this year. With accommodations taken care of, our next step was to look for a place to go snowboarding nearby. In speaking with my cousin, it sounded like Heavenly and Kirkwood are the two closest places to go near the cabin. Once we looked into choosing from those two, it didn’t take long to choose Heavenly! Just the name itself kinda made the choice an easy one for me to make! With lift tickets coming in the form of Christmas gifts from loved ones, now all we have left to do is plan our itinerary and save up for gas, food, etc.
We couldn’t be more thrilled! We will be driving the eight hours in the car with our two kiddos, all of our snow gear and, of course, our snowboards! Tonight I looked at Heavenly’s website and was even more delighted to see that they just received 7 inches of snow last night! In addition to that, there is a whole two-week (family-friendly) festival leading up to New Year’s Day, called the “Heavenly Holidays.”
“Heavenly Holidays” entails the 13 days of Christmas, filled with ice sculptors, carolers, professional ice skating shows, local artists, and a giant 16-foot snow globe with opportunities for a picture with Santa. The last day of the festival, the “Heavenly New Year’s Celebration,” features live music, fire dancers, ice sculptors, and a ball drop followed by a fireworks show to finish the year off with a bang!
