Cottonwood Cove Marina and RV Park: Explore the Lake Mead NRA, Vegas and Hoover Dam/Boulder City

Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina on the Nevada shoreline of beautiful Lake Mohave features a terrific RV Park. You’ll find 75 RV sites, each with 50/30amp, and access to an on-site Laundromat and shower/restroom facilities. And, you’re thinking, “So what’s the big deal about that?”
Well, here’s the big deal. Cottonwood Cove Marina offers phenomenal recreational access to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and serves as your pivot point for exploring many of cultural and tourist attractions in Arizona and Nevada.
Lake Mohave in of itself is a world to be discovered. Guests at the Cottonwood RV Park can rent a day boat at the Cottonwood Cove Marina and go waterskiing, fishing, or sightseeing up or down the Lake to discover beautiful clear water, private beaches and out of way hiking trails. You can also make your way up north to Willow Beach and through the Black Canyon of the Colorado River to see Hoover Dam and the new Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge from the water. You won’t believe what these engineering wonders feel like from this perspective. You can also explore Pyramid Canyon, Painted Canyon and Eldorado Canyon.
From Cottonwood Cove RV Park you can try your luck gaming in either Las Vegas or Laughlin, NV. You’re just 45 minutes from either one. Laughlin is more laid back than Vegas and way less crowded. Vegas has more nightlife and diverse activities that appeal to kids and teens.
History and cultural buffs will love poking around nearby Searchlight, NV. It’s only 14 miles from the Marina. Once a town with a population bigger than Las Vegas—thanks to the prolific Duplex Mine and other gold & silver mining enterprises—Searchlight was a booming place in the early 1900’s. It’s associated with a cadre of characters worthy of investigation including Clara Bow, Rex Bell, Edith Head, LT William Nellis and U.S. Senator Harry Reid. In 1906 there were over 300 mining claims in the area and approximately 1,500 residents; by 1927 Searchlight had all but dried up, leaving only 50 residents. Today it’s a sleepy retirement community with about 800 residents that include small business owners, ranchers, and artists. There’s a Searchlight public library and Historic Museum, two churches, a post office and a senior citizens’ center that hosts card games and bingo once a week.
Or…you can always just hang out around the Marina and enjoy convenient access to a great swimming beach and a community meeting room. You can browse the gift shop or grab coffee and conversation at the on-site café, where you are bound to meet other guests and strike up a conversation.
To reach Cottonwood Cove Marina RV Park, from US-95 at Searchlight NV, take W. Cottonwood Cove Road for 14 miles to the water’s edge. It is advised to make reservations in advance. 10000 Cottonwood Cove Road, Searchlight, NV 89046 (702) 297-1464, (800) 255-5561.
