Take a Look at Mississippi State Parks

Packing up the family for a vacation can be a daunting task. One of the most difficult decisions is finding the right place to go. Mississippi state parks are a popular choice for many families, but picking out the right park to suit your needs is important.

All state parks are unique. While you can find similar amenities at each park, it’s often the little things that make a specific park perfect for your family. Whether you’re getting away for a weekend or planning on spending a whole week, you want to find the right location to relax.

All 25 of our state parks have a lake, so if you’re just planning on a fishing trip you can’t go wrong with any of them. But, if your family enjoys other water related activities such as skiing, you’ll need to find a park that has that option as well.

If you’re looking for more than just a family outing in the outdoors or a fishing trip, look at some of these parks and activities before planning your next trip.

Tishomingo State Park: Not only is Tishomingo State Park located in a beautiful setting, you also have the option to view the scenic beauty of northeast Mississippi from a canoe. From mid-April until mid-October, the park offers a 6.25-mile canoe trip down Bear Creek. Everything you’ll need – canoe, paddles, lifejackets, and transportation – are provided by the park. Trace State Park: If you’d rather ride a trail than walk, you need to make a trip to Pontotoc County and visit Trace State Park. Some of its key attractions are the equestrian and off road vehicle trails. Horses, motorcycles, ATVs, and mountain bikes are permitted on these trails. A specific trail is set aside for equestrian and mountain bike only, but equestrian is also permitted on the off road vehicle trail. Hugh White, Percy Quin, and LeFleur’s Bluff State Parks: If your idea of relaxation begins on a lush green of a golf course you’ll want to try out these parks. Each park offers a golf course that provides a quality outing. Hugh White’s Dogwood Course and Percy Quin’s Quail Hollow are both 18-hole championship courses that are both challenging and fun to play. LeFleur’s Bluff’s 9-hole course gives people in the Jackson area a chance to get in few holes after work.
