Arizona’ Willow Beach Marina and RV Park on the Colorado River is a Great Place to Catch Fish!

[1]Anglers. Pay attention. A 60-lb. Striper was caught just 8 miles from Willow Beach, Arizona in the deep waters of the Colorado River to earn a world record. It’s not uncommon to land 20 to 30 pounders! So if you’re around Hoover Dam and you’re itching to spend some quality time fishing in the rugged outdoors of the Black Canyon, plan a stay over at Willow Beach RV Park and Campground. There’s a fish hatchery close to the Park so there’s plenty of trout to be had. You can also find Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Channel Catfish, and Bluegill in these clear, cold crystalline waters. The Marina complex has a fully-stocked convenience store so you don’t have to go far to get geared up for fishing. You can buy lures, bait and even a license right here. You can also find a large selection of groceries, toiletries, sundries, ice, cold drinks, gifts, and clothing.
The RV Park and concessions facilities were renovated in 2011, making this off-the-beaten-path RV Park even more enticing. Expect full-service RV sites that include water, sewer, electric, fire rings and picnic tables (29 sites total) and 9 camping sites—with 2 tents per site allowed. The Park has new shower and restroom facilities and a laundry room—all open 24 hours a day.
Your adventures begin at Willow Beach Marina, which is just a short walk from the RV Park. If you have your own boat, you’re in luck! There is a great launch ramp and fishing pier on site. If not, no problem. There are a variety of day boats for rent to support excursions up and down the River. Travel from the Marina all the way up to Hoover Dam through the ancient Black Canyon; it’s only 11 miles. On this amazing outing you’ll go right under the newly opened Colorado River Bypass Bridge—which is a thrill in and of itself. Or, do the reverse. From the base of Hoover Dam, indulge a narrated, scenic raft trip (offered by Black Canyon River Adventures) through the Canyon that terminates at Willow Beach. Or, you can also explore the beautiful clear waters of Lake Mohave by journeying just south of Willow Beach Marina. You’ll have to pinch yourself once you discover this Park.

Anglers, here are some tips: The best fishing at Willow Beach is Friday—that’s when the fish are released from the up-river hatchery. It’s easy to fish along the shoreline if renting a boat is not in your budget. Die-hard anglers often fish at night—even through the night—because the temperatures are cooler.
