Cottonwood Cove RV Park is a Fisherman’s Paradise

The fish are biting in Lake Mohave so if you love spending time out on the water and eating Rainbow Trout that you’ve caught yourself, then you’ll want to plan a stay at Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina, just 14 miles east of Searchlight NV. If you go south of Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave— towards Katherine’s Landing and Laughlin—you’ll likely catch Largemouth or Striped Bass. Maybe you’d rather sunbathe to your heart’s content. Travel north of the Marina to the cold waters of the Colorado River, near and above Willow Beach toward Hoover Dam. There are literally hundreds of beaches to explore along the Lake Mohave shoreline—but most of them can only be reached by boat. Needless to say, the fishing is excellent.

And, that’s where staying at Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina comes in handy. Forever Resorts, the concessioner for the National Park Service at this location in the Lake Mead National Recreation area, rents boats! All sorts of boats. So if fishing isn’t for you then rent a power boat or a kayak to do your exploring. There’s even pontoon boats for rent so you can take your entire crew plus, perhaps, a couple of newly-found friends out on the lake for a leisurely stroll….or is that troll? But, if fishing is your game, then you’re all set as you can buy a fishing license, gear and bait and the snacks and sunscreen necessary for a successful expedition out on Mohave’s traditionally calm waters.

Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina is one of Lake Mohave’s best kept secrets. There are 75 RV sites—each with 30/50 amp service—at the Marina complex that also includes a grocery, gift and clothing store, a restaurant, and a motel. You can log plenty of relax time at Cottonwood Cove’s swim beach or play sand volley ball, horseshoes or shuffle board. You can just stay home and watch Cable TV. Or, if you’re traveling with a group there’s a climate-controlled meeting room on site for you to gather and play cards or talk politics. And, naturally, the RV Park has shower and laundry facilities for your hygiene maintenance. It’s a tidy little package, a little slice of heaven that invites relaxation and/or exploration. And, it’s not nearly as crowded or congested as life is up around Laughlin NV and Bullhead City, AZ—even though they’re easy to reach if you feel the itch to do some gambling. You’re also very close to other regional attractions like Hoover Dam, the new Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge and, of course, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

To reach Cottonwood Cove Marina RV Park, from US-95 at Searchlight NV, take W. Cottonwood Cove Road for 14 miles to the water’s edge. This is a popular spot so it’s advised to make reservations in advance. ‪10000 Cottonwood Cove Road, Searchlight, NV 89046 (702) 297-1464, (800) 255-5561.
