Calico Ghost Town Shines during Holiday Fest Weekend November 26-28th
Calico Ghost Town shines during the holidays. The town will be decorated in sprays of evergreen, red and gold bows, and beautiful lights that twinkle on the Calico mountain at night. All one has to do is look up to see a vision of beauty in the night sky.
Travelers looking for a place to spend the Thanksgiving weekend, or a place to stop over on the way to or from “grandma’s house” should consider camping at Calico Ghost Town. There are 265 sites to choose from and a variety of camping – dry camping, partial hook up, full hook up, tent camping. There are even cabins and a mini-bunkhouse at Calico.
The town will host a series of events during Holiday Fest, November 26-28th, that are sure to please. Gunfight demonstrations, live musical performances and games for children will take place throughout the weekend. A yodeling contest will be held on Saturday, November 27th and that evening there will be a tree lighting complete with a visit from Santa! The sound of Christmas Carols will fill the air and children will not only be able to have their photo taken with Santa, they’ll enjoy petting a live reindeer, too!
Sunday the 28th promises to be a crowd pleaser with the Calico Shotgun Chili Cook off and saloon dances, in addition to the live music and games and crafts for kids.
And Calico provides an antidote to fighting crowded malls and parking lots. There are fourteen stores offering unique gift items and with a $75 purchase you will receive a beautiful Calico Bear stuffed animal free of charge. Calico also has three restaurants from which to choose, should your family want a meal away from the campfire.
Calico Ghost Town is located on I-15 at the Ghost Town Road exit. It is approximately 1-1/2 hours from Las Vegas and 2 hours from the greater Los Angeles area. In addition to the events that will take place over the November 26-28th weekend campers will be happy to know they can enjoy the history of the Old West mining town, exploring Maggie’s Mine, the Mystery Shack, gold panning, visiting the Lane House Museum and riding the Calico Odessa Railway, the narrow gauge mining train that runs around the perimeter of the town.
