Lakewood C.R. in Myrtle Beach

One of the biggest struggles for many families these days can be taking a family vacation without breaking the bank. For a lot of us, the word ‘vacation’ conjures up pleasant thoughts of relaxation for Dad & Mom, and exciting, new activities for the kids.
[1]And for our northwestern family, it also meant a day at the beach! Knowing that we were going to be in South Carolina, we searched for a family campground at Woodalls.com [2], and were given a plethora of options. We decided to give Lakewood Camping Resort [3] (awarded Woodall’s highest 5W/5W rating) in Myrtle Beach a try, and what we found was that a family camping resort absolutely fit the bill for a wonderful family get-away!
Lakewood C.R. is an oceanfront campground with so many amenities that I am sure I will miss some! One of the best things that we did was to purchase their optional Family Value Fun Pass Package [4]. At $10/day, it allows all the members of a family to access mini golf, Water (balloon) Wars, rental bikes/kayaks/canoes/pedal boats, and the Hippo Slide for FREE! All Day! The Hippo Slide is the world’s largest inflatable waterslide (seasonal).
My kiddos adored Water Wars. It is a sling-shot water balloon game where opposing opponents launch water balloons at each other via slingshots! It was a lot of fun, and I even got in on the action and doused hubby! We loved playing on the beautiful beaches, and we borrowed pedal boats, canoes, and kayaks to explore Crater Lake, which is located in the park. My older kids went to a beach party, and had fun getting in on and watching the tug-o-war, hula hoop, and limbo contests. With half of a mile of clean family-friendly beaches, there is lot of room to run, play, and swim.
Lakewood also has lots of other fun activities to do; basketball goals, 2 volleyball courts, a oceanside playground, and an arcade. There are 2 pools, one is heated, and another not heated that has a waterslide.
It offers golf cart rentals, a laundrymat, several places to dine (the Coffee House has free wi-fi), horseshoes and shuffleboard. There is a campground store called The Trading Post, that carries everything from milk to body boards, at reasonable prices. The onsite laundrymat was spacious and clean, and it was so nice to leave with no dirty clothes piled up from our time on the beach. You can even get your propane tanks filled onsite, or order pizza to be delivered (via golf cart)!
Lakewood was a wonderful resort that was genuinely family friendly. Their base rate covers a family of 5, with children 4 and under free, and with the Family Fun Pass, we had all our activities included for one price. It made for a inexpensive, but exciting family get-away! So, if you are looking for an inexpensive family excursion with all the excitement of a ‘traditional’ vacation, but without all the in-between drive time, load up the rv or tent, stock up on sunscreen, and check out Lakewood C.R. [3] or find a camping resort get-away near you!
Lakewood made us some seriously Happy Campers!
